A workshop on entrepreneurship was held in the Al-Amrat state, targeting the children of social security beneficiaries in the state. The workshop was inaugurated by the Governor of Al-Amrat, Mohammed bin Hameed Al-Ghabsi, and aims to provide the targeted group with concepts and information about the concept of entrepreneurship and the role of small and medium-sized enterprises in supporting this group and the facilities they provide for the children of social security beneficiaries. In his opening speech, the Governor of Al-Amrat welcomed the attendees, emphasizing that the workshop is in line with the goals, vision, and directions of the government in caring for an important sector that drives the economic development towards sustainability through entrepreneurship projects in various fields and serves different segments of society, in addition to the job opportunities provided by small business projects that embody innovative ideas for entrepreneurs and their ability to improve living standards. The Governor urged the participants to benefit from the valuable workshop materials, adding that there will be subsequent courses offered in collaboration with other government agencies, including the Ministry of Social Development represented by the Family Empowerment Department and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Riyada). He also called on small business owners to continue to face challenges and difficulties until they reach a safe haven."Raqiya Al-Ghaafari, a specialist in awareness and programs at the Ministry of Social Development, presented a paper from the Department of Family Development and Empowerment at the Ministry of Social Development entitled "Empowerment Initiative." The initiative aims to transform families receiving social assistance and those in similar economic situations into self-sufficient families. It seeks to utilize the capabilities of individuals and families, enhance the concept of self-employment, and reduce social assistance expenses. Additionally, the initiative provides administrative, technical, and financial assistance to families to manage small or medium-sized projects. Dr. Mohammed Al-Balushi from the MaaS Institute concluded the session with a presentation on the concept of entrepreneurship and how families can benefit from their skills and capabilities and capitalize on available opportunities in the community to start their own projects.
