Al Amerat witnessed an environmental initiative to expand green spaces along the main road in the wilayat, held under the patronage of His Excellency Hamad bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Wali of Al Amerat, with the participation of numerous government entities, educational institutions and volunteers, coinciding with the Sultanate of Oman’s celebration of Omani Agriculture Day.
The event forms part of the “Al Amerat Green” initiative, which was launched by the Al Amerat Volunteer Team seven years ago as part of its efforts to contribute to enhancing the overall appearance of the wilayat, raise awareness of the importance of tree planting and environmental conservation, and strengthen community engagement in initiatives with a sustainable impact.
The campaign was arranged at the initiative of the Directorate General of Projects and Landscaping in Muscat Governorate, in coordination with the Environment Committee of the Al Amerat Volunteer Team. The Director General of Muscat Municipality in Al Amerat attended the event, alongside students from Abdullah bin Salam Basic Education School and Raya bint Abdullah Al Bimani Basic Education School, highlighting the importance of involving educational institutions in environmental and community activities.

In this context, Aseel bin Ahmed Al Zadjali, Chairman of the Environment Committee of the Al Amerat Volunteer Team, noted that over the past seven years, the “Al Amerat Green” initiative has become one of the ongoing community initiatives, built on cooperation between the government sector, volunteer efforts and the local society.
He explained that the focus on tree planting goes beyond aesthetic considerations to include reinforcing environmental consciousness, encouraging positive practices related to protecting natural resources, and instilling environmental preservation values among younger generations. Thereby contributing to building a society that is more conscious of its responsibilities towards its surrounding environment.
He highlighted the importance of the existing partnership with the Directorate General of Projects and Landscaping in Muscat Governorate in supporting field initiatives, stressing the Environment Committee’s commitment to continuing its efforts and expanding activities aimed at increasing green spaces and boosting community engagement in environmental projects.
The event reflects a model of cooperation between official entities, volunteer teams and educational institutions, and underscores the importance of continuous community initiatives that combine environmental care with the enhancement of the urban landscape. Thereby supporting efforts towards a more sustainable urban environment and a better quality of life.
