Awareness Seminar in Mutrah Highlights the Risks of Drugs and Psychotropic Substances and Preventing Them

      The Office of the Wali of Mutrah, in cooperation with the Health Committee and the Parents’ Council, conducted an awareness seminar entitled “The Risks of Drugs and Psychotropic Substances and Ways to Reduce Them”, under the patronage of His Excellency Dr Hamad bin Saeed Al Maamari, Wali of Mutrah, with the participation of school students and several fishermen.

     The seminar aimed to raise awareness of the risks of drugs and psychotropic substances and their health, psychological and social effects, as well as to introduce ways of preventing addiction. It highlighted the role of families, educational institutions and the community in protecting young people and providing the necessary support and guidance to prevent this scourge.

      The seminar included a consciousness session specifically aimed at fishermen, to increase their consciousness of the risks of being exploited or deceived by individuals with suspicious motives. It stressed the importance of exercising caution and refraining from engaging in any unlawful practices. Thereby contributing to enhancing their sense of social responsibility and protecting the community from the risks associated with drug smuggling and trafficking.

       The organisation of this seminar forms part of ongoing awareness-raising and community efforts to prevent drugs and psychotropic substances, strengthen partnerships between government, educational and community institutions, protect members of society, and boost awareness of the risks posed by this scourge and ways of addressing them.
