10/09/2026

The activities of the charitable Obour initiative continued today, Thursday, at The Village in Muscat Governorate, with the support and patronage of Muscat Governorate, as it continues its journey that began in Salalah. The youth-led initiative utilises interactive methods to raise consciousness of the issues faced by families experiencing financial hardship and individuals facing financial claims. While encouraging the community members to contribute to supporting them.

The initiative’s activities are being held in Muscat from 10 to 12 September, under the patronage of Al-Mu’tasim bin Abdullah Al-Siyabi, Deputy Wali of Seeb.

Al-Mu’tasim bin Abdullah Al-Siyabi, Deputy Wali of Seeb, stated that Muscat Governorate’s sponsorship of the Obour initiative reflects its commitment to supporting youth initiatives with a positive social impact and encouraging innovative ideas that contribute to developing voluntary and charitable work areas, while boosting community engagement in such efforts. He added that the initiative offers a distinctive experience by utilising interactive methods to convey social messages. Thereby bringing the issues it addresses closer to the public and contributing to a deeper understanding of their various implications by combining knowledge with interaction.

Obour takes visitors through numerous stations featuring visual and sensory elements. The experience begins with the ‘Map Station’, which introduces the initiative’s concept and message, followed by a Narrow Passage reflecting some of the challenges and pressures that families experiencing financial hardship may face. Visitors then proceed to the “Weight and Burden Zone”, which represents some of the burdens resulting from such circumstances, before concluding the experience at a donation station through the Dar Al Atta’a Association platform.

The experience aims to enhance visitors’ understanding of the issue and highlight the impact of community contributions in alleviating the burdens faced by beneficiaries. Thereby reinforcing the concept of charitable work based on awareness, responsibility and influence.

A range of community and recreational activities targeting different age groups, including workshops on plant cultivation, pottery making and water marbling, accompanies the initiative. Children can take part in activities such as learning about animals, colouring and interactive competitions, as well as a live drawing of the Obour logo on a large art canvas.

This programme comprises a photography corner and a display of two vintage classic cars, adding a diverse interactive and entertaining impression to the visitors’ experience.

Several students from Sultan Qaboos University is implementing the initiative as part of their participation in the tenth edition of the Charitable Giving Competition conducted by Dar Al Atta’a Association. The Muscat Station forms part of the initiative’s journey, which initiated with its first activities on 21 August in Salalah, with the aim of broadening its message and engaging the community’s groups.
