Meeting in Quriyat Discusses Initiatives to Develop Fisheries and Enhance Benefits for Fishermen

As part of the ongoing coordination meetings between the Wali of Quriyat Office and the Directorate of Fisheries Development, a meeting was held in Quriyat to discuss numerous initiatives and proposals to develop the fisheries sector and enhance fishermen’s access to available opportunities and solutions.

The Director of the Fisheries Development Department in Quriyat, members of the Municipal Council, a representative of the Bahhar Platform, and sheikhs, community leaders and dignitaries, along with a group of fishermen attended this meeting. The participants reviewed several initiatives and proposals that supporting the fisheries sector and discussed the key challenges and needs facing fishermen and activities associated with the sector.

The meeting addressed the role of the Bahhar Platform in developing mechanisms for marketing fishery products by utilising digital solutions in sales and auction processes. This contributes to expanding access to markets, boosting the economic value of fishery products, and improving the efficiency of marketing.

The Maritime Affairs Committee continues to follow up on fishermen’s affairs, convey their needs and proposals, enhance coordination among the relevant entities, and support efforts to develop the fisheries sector .
