“Muscat Inspires Us” — a Youth Dialogue on People and the City

Muscat Governorate will conduct the youth dialogue session “Muscat Inspires Us” next Wednesday, participating by a diverse group of youth from across the Governorate’s wilayats, with various academic backgrounds, specialisations and experiences. The interactive session will enable participants to express their views, experiences and impressions of Muscat, while recalling the places, moments, emotions and aspirations associated with the city in their memories.
This session is based on the idea that people’s relationship with a city is deep-rooted and extends far beyond its streets, landmarks and urban landscape. It is shaped by the details of everyday life, memories and experiences accumulated over time, creating a unique personal story for each individual with the place. From this perspective, the session reflects Muscat Governorate’s commitment to boosting community engagement and creating structured spaces for dialogue that enable young people to express their relationship with the city through their own experiences and from diverse perspectives.
“Muscat Inspires Us” will take an interactive approach based on dialogue, participation and teamwork, allowing participants to express themselves through a variety of methods. This will encourage diverse perspectives and make the experience closer to young people and the ways in which they engage and interact.
Ibrahim bin Said Al Hasani, Assistant Director of Communication and Media Department at Muscat Governorate, stated: “The ‘Muscat Inspires Us’ dialogue session stems from Muscat Governorate’s belief in the importance of strengthening direct communication with the youth and providing real-life opportunities to listen to their experiences, thoughts and aspirations. Young people are an integral part of the governorate’s community, and their relationship with Muscat provides a great understanding of the place from the perspective of those who live its daily life details and engage with its transformations.”
He continued: “Through this session, we seek to promote dialogue and community contribution, moving communication beyond simply receiving views and messages to establishing closer community connections. We are keen for the session to reflect the range of participants in terms of their fields, specialisations and experiences. Thereby enriching the dialogue, broadening perspectives, inspiring experiences, and reinforcing their presence as effective partners in initiatives related to their governorate.”
“Muscat Inspires Us” therefore seeks to offer a youth-focused experience that places dialogue and participation at the heart of the gathering, giving young people a space to express the city as they experience and engage with it. Muscat is not told through its landmarks, but also through the stories its people share, the memories they create there, and the relationship that develops between them and this place day after day.
