Muscat Governorate Organises the Second Health Committees Forum to Reinforce Community Partnerships and Health

     Muscat Governorate, in cooperation with the Directorate General of Health Services in Muscat Governorate, representing the Third Health Cluster, organised today the Second Health Committees Forum in Seeb. His Excellency Dr Ahmed bin Salem Al Mandhari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Planning and Health Regulation sponsored this forum. His Excellency Ahmed bin Ali Al Shehhi, Wali of Seeb and Chairman of the Health Committee; numerous Their Excellencies the Walis; members of the Shura Council and the Municipal Council, and representatives of government and private sector entities and civil society institutions attended it.

          Held under the title "Health Committees… Continuous Achievements and Integrated Visions", the forum reaffirmed the importance of building on successful achievements and strengthening collaboration among various partners to enhance community health and support sustainable development.

         This forum forms part of efforts to reinforce community partnerships and promote integrated work across various sectors. Thereby supporting sustainable health initiatives and achieving the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, based on the principle that promoting health is a shared responsibility requiring the collective efforts of all relevant entities.

      The event featured various working papers highlighting successful experiences and initiatives in health promotion. Topics included the role of health committees as a model for collaborative action, Seeb`s experience within the Global Healthy Cities Network, and initiatives that create health-promoting environments in workplaces and shopping centres. These initiatives reflect both national and GCC-wide efforts to adopt lasting health practices.

       The forum aimed to highlight the importance of partnerships between government entities, the private sector and civil society in advancing health, display leading national experiences, raise community awareness of the value of contributing in health initiatives, and reinforce that good health is everyone`s responsibility.

        At its conclusion, the heads of the health committees in Muscat Governorate were honoured. Along with shopping centres that received the Diamond Accreditation under the Mu`azziz Initiative, participating shopping centres, members of the evaluation committee, and members of the Seeb Health Committee, in recognition of their valuable contributions to supporting health initiatives and boosting community partnerships.
