       As part of its commitment to strengthening institutional partnerships to enhance health awareness and foster prevention and emergency preparedness, Muscat Governorate, in collaboration with the Department of Training and Continuing Professional Development at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, University Medical City, conducted a specialised training workshop on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and using Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), entitled "A Lifesaving Beat Starts with You". The workshop forms part of the Governorate`s efforts to promote health consciousness and encourage rapid response to medical emergencies.

      This workshop aimed to equip participants with the basic knowledge and practical skills required to perform CPR and respond effectively to emergencies across all age groups, including adults, children and infants. Participants also received training on the correct use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), helping to enhance their readiness to intervene promptly and save lives, recognising that the first few minutes are often critical in determining the outcome of a medical emergency.

       The programme also covered methods for assessing a casualty before commencing resuscitation, as well as the appropriate response to cases of cardiac arrest and choking. Practical sessions enabled participants to apply CPR techniques and operate AEDs in accordance with approved procedures, strengthening their confidence in providing immediate assistance until specialised medical teams arrive.

       The workshop featured an extensive practical component, during which participants were divided into training groups to undertake a series of hands-on exercises and simulated emergency scenarios covering different age groups. This practical approach reinforced the skills acquired throughout the training and enhanced participants` ability to apply the correct procedures confidently in real-life emergencies, highlighting the importance of practical training in transforming theoretical knowledge into effective first-aid practice.

       The workshop reflects Muscat Governorate`s commitment to supporting awareness initiatives that strengthen first-aid skills and promote prevention and social responsibility. By empowering employees with practical lifesaving skills and expanding cooperation with specialised national institutions.
