Muscat Governorate Conducts Training Workshop on Negotiation and Persuasion Skills

The Muscat Governorate conducted a training workshop today (Monday) entitled ‘Negotiation and Persuasion Skills’, attended by numerous Governorate’s officials, to introduce participants to the key knowledge and skills associated with negotiation and persuasion.
This workshop was presented by Dr Ibrahim bin Salim Al-Amiri, Director of the Reconciliation and Settlement Department in Muscat, who outlined numerous topics relating to the concept of negotiation and its significance, the fundamental skills it requires, and introducing its various types and effective methods.
During this workshop, diverse types of negotiation were addressed. They comprised win-win negotiation, which achieves gains for all parties, and distributive negotiation, in which gains are concentrated within one party at other parties` expense, whilst clarifying the appropriate methods for each type and applying them in various workplace environments.

The workshop discussed the general and specific aspects of social intelligence, including social harmony, social efficiency and understanding body language. As well as, reviewing prominent factors that contribute to advancing social intelligence and boosting effective communication skills.
The workshop experienced interaction among participants through discussions and exchanging of practical experiences and insights. Thereby enriching the knowledge content and achieving the desired benefits from its topics.

This workshop forms part of the ‘Knowledge Ambassador’ initiative arranged by the Human Resources Department in the Muscat Governorate, which aims to reinforce continuous learning and share knowledge and experiences among employees. Thereby, it support enhancing institutional performance and increasing human resources efficiency.
