Muscat Governorate Concludes “Utilising Artificial Intelligence in the Workplace” Programme

Muscat Governorate concluded its specialised training programme entitled “Utilising Artificial Intelligence in the Workplace”, which was delivered over five days under the patronage of Dr Khalid bin Abdullah Al Abri, Administrative Expert at the Governorate.
This programme aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to understand artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and their practical applications. As well as to explore key areas for their utilisation in the workplace. This contributes to enhancing institutional performance efficiency and service quality. The programme included several practical modules focusing on using various AI tools, including content and text generation tools, Chatbots, data analysis techniques, and predictive analytics. It addressed using AI in performance evaluation and supporting institutional decision-making.
Dr Saeed Al Kalbani, an international trainer in AI and its applications, stated that the programme helps translate Oman’s digital transformation agenda into practical workplace practices by fostering a culture that supports change and empowering employees to understand and systematically utilise AI applications to improve processes and support decision-making. He added that implementing such programmes reflects a growing awareness of the importance of enhancing institutional readiness to adopt modern technologies, in line with digital transformation objectives and improving government service efficiency.
Dr Al Kalbani emphasised that using AI in the workplace requires adherence to several controls, foremost among them data protection and privacy, avoiding the input of sensitive information, and verifying the accuracy of outputs to prevent misinformation or bias. He also highlighted complying with legal and ethical frameworks governing the use of technologies and avoiding complete reliance on them in decision-making without human oversight.
He further explained that adopting AI within a clear methodology and structured frameworks contributes to accelerating transaction processing, improving service quality, and supporting data-driven decision-making. At more advanced stages of adoption, it can enable future foresight, anticipate needs, enhance proactive intervention, improve resource management, and streamline procedures—ultimately having a positive impact on stakeholder experience and overall government efficiency.
The programme involved practical workshops that enabled participants to design institutional initiatives and projects based on AI, through advancing actionable plans incorporating performance indicators and sustainability elements. These were presented and discussed in an interactive environment that boosted innovation and teamwork.
Sheikha bint Al Khalil Al Kharousi highlighted that the programme’s significance lies in preparing participants to effectively and professionally engage with AI technologies in the workplace by strengthening conceptual understanding and advancing towards practical application, particularly in task automation and data analysis. She added that this programme contributed to developing participants’ skills in designing prompts for AI tools in a systematic and precise manner, enabling them to obtain high-quality outputs that meet work requirements efficiently.
Luay bin Talib Al Hadidi, a photographer, stated that the workshop enhanced his ability to utilise AI tools to support his work. He explained that such applications can identify artistic and organisational aspects before, during, and after photography, allowing him more time to focus on creative vision while improving execution accuracy and consistency of quality.
The programme adopted a modern training methodology based on practical application and interaction, including hands-on exercises, real-life case studies, discussions, brainstorming sessions, and using audio-visual aids. This approach contributed to reinforcing concepts and maximising the benefits of the programme’s outcomes.
Conducting this programme aligns with contemporary directives that promotes using AI in work environments, as a key enabler for increasing productivity, accelerating task completion, advancing service efficiency, and supporting decision-making processes through data analysis and providing accurate indicators that enhance institutional performance.
