The Wali of Mutrah Office reviews the plans and achievements for 2026

As part of efforts to strengthen community partnerships and review the latest developments in progress, the Wali of Mutrah Office held a meeting today (Wednesday), chaired by His Excellency Dr Hamad bin Said Al-Maamari, Wali of Mutrah, and attended by numerous local elders, dignitaries and businessmen.

During this meeting, the Wali’s responsibilities were outlined in accordance with the Governorates’ Law Act 36/2022. Additionally, presenting Mutrah’s plans for 2026, which include implementing various programmes covering educational and cultural aspects, conducting workshops for job seekers, to develop their skills and enhance chances for the labour market. Numerous ongoing projects were discussed, primarily advancing Mutrah Square and the cable car project. Furthermore, the Wadi Uday Dam, and the significance of these projects to support infrastructure and boost tourism and investment.

During this meeting, the 2025 achievements were addressed, highlighting the Office`s efforts to promote the values of social solidarity, encourage Zakat payments, and increase volunteerism. Thereby strengthening the local community`s cohesion and supporting development efforts. A proposal to establish a rehabilitation centre for recovering addicts was reviewed, utilising the Sultan bin Ahmed school building, thereby contributing to providing societal and health support to this group. The meeting highlighted efforts of civil society institutions and their role in implementing community initiatives and promoting voluntary work. A range of contributions and discussions by sheikhs, dignitaries and businessmen were featured, which focused on supporting inclusive progress and achieving integration between various entities.
