Health Committee in Muscat Discusses Vaccination Programmes, Health Groups and Pre-Marital Screening

            The Health Committee in Muscat held a meeting today (Sunday), chaired by His Excellency Ali bin Said Al Saidi, Wali of Muscat. The committee members representing numerous relevant entities attended it, to strengthen health initiatives and advance services provided to the community.

        The committee reviewed numerous topics, primarily vaccinations, the importance of immunisation programmes as first line of defence to prevent diseases, and increasing coverage efficiency and raise public awareness, consistent with best health practices.

         During this meeting, methods to develop ‘health groups’ and boost greater integration between them were discussed, thereby unifying efforts and improving the quality of provided services. As well as, achieving greater efficiency in utilising available health resources and the health group, which comprises Muscat, Mutrah and Bawshar.  

         The committee highlighted performance indicators and statistics regarding health centres’ programmes and activities, identifying key achievements during the past period. Furthermore, addressing challenges and devising practical solutions to tackle them, to ensure the continuous enhancement of services. Regarding health consciousness, the committee highlighted pre-marital screening and its role in reducing genetic diseases and promoting family health.
