Wali of Mutrah Inspects the Wadi Uday Dam Project, which is 47% Complete

His Excellency Dr Hamad bin Saeed Al-Maamari, Wali of Mutrah, inspected the Wadi Uday Dam project accompanying numerous specialists and officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, as part of following up on vital development projects. 

 

       During this visit, His Excellency was briefed on the work progress and the various stages of implementing the project, while specialists explained the dam components and its key technical details. They indicated that approximately 47% has been accomplished to date, whilst the dam’s storage capacity stands at around 23 million cubic metres of water. 

 

       The project has strategic relevance regarding minimising flood risks, particularly in residential and commercial areas. As well as protecting infrastructure, road networks and essential services. Thus, it boosts efficiency of the protection system in Muscat Governorate.

 

       Upon achievement, this project will contribute to improving public safety and reducing losses and damage from extreme weather events, and support sustainability efforts in water resource management.
