Today (Tuesday), Seeb welcomed His Majesty the Sultan’s Football Cup to the Wali of Seeb Office, attended by His Excellency Ahmed bin Ali Al Shehhi, the Wali of Seeb, Their Excellencies the Shura Council`s members, dignitaries and notables, and numerous sports enthusiasts.
Seeb marks the fourth stop on the Cup Tour within six wilayats. The tour started in Mutrah, followed by Bawshar and then Muscat, reflecting the Omani community’s connection to this iconic tournament.
The Cup procession commenced from the Wali of Seeb Office towards Wadi Al Khoud, with classic cars. It was greeted by sheikhs and residents before continuing to Sultan Qaboos University in four-wheel drive vehicles.
His Highness the University Head, members of the academic staff and numerous students welcomed the Cup procession. The tour began in the University’s corridors, then the procession set off from the University to Al Mouj using vintage bicycles.
The Cup continues its voyage by boats and yachts from Al Mouj to Seeb Port, greeted by great audience and welcoming processions, prior to proceeding to the historic Castle using a horse-drawn carriage.
The Cup Tour concluded in Seeb with the Cup procession`s arrival in Sultan Haitham City, where welcoming ceremonies and traditional musical performances attracted considerable public interaction and community engagement.
His Excellency Ahmed bin Ali Al-Shehhi, Wali of Seeb, confirmed that His Majesty the Sultan’s Football Cup symbolises great national value for Omanis, noting that the Cup’s tour reflects the public’s joy and local community’s appreciation.
He stated: “Hosting His Majesty the Sultan’s Cup`s final in various governorates aligns with Oman Vision 2040 and boosts empowerment and involvement of governorates in hosting national events. It highlights tourism and development assets in Oman during the prosperous reign of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said – may Allah protect and preserve him.”
HE Wali of Seeb encouraged Omani audiences, particularly citizens, to join the final match as participants to succeed this national event, emphasising that public interaction enhances this championship and expresses loyalty and patriotism values.
