
As part of efforts to boost maritime safety and protect fishermen in Muscat Governorate, Bawshar conducted an introductory workshop on the importance of satellite tracking devices for fishing boats and fishing vessels. His Excellency Ahmed bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Wali of Bawshar, attended this workshop and took place at the Mercure Hotel in Al Khuwair.
The Directorate General for Fisheries Resources Development at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources arranged the workshop, represented by the Fisheries Development Department in Muscat Governorate, with the participation of numerous relevant entities.

Numerous members of Sea Traditions Committees, along with fishermen from Bawshar, Mutrah, and Muscat attended the workshop. It discussed various topics focused on enhancing maritime safety, reducing risks and accidents at sea, raising awareness of using modern tracking systems to regulate fishing activities, and supporting the sustainability of fishery resources.
A number of specialists delivered the workshop from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, with contributions from the Coast Guard and Tadoom, the company installing the tracking devices. They explained the technical and operational aspects of the system and advancing maritime safety and protecting lives and sea possessions within the governorate.
This workshop contributes to strengthening integration among government entities in Muscat Governorate. Thus, it unifies efforts to promote maritime safety, raise awareness of fishermen, protect lives and maritime properties. As well as, support the sustainability of the fishing sector, which positively influences the local community and the maritime economy.
