Governor of Muscat sponsors seminar ‘The Al-Busaidi State and the Foundations of Peace in Oman: From Historical Legacy to Current Renaissance’

His Excellency Sayyid Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat, today (Wednesday) sponsored the inauguration of the seminar entitled ‘The Al Busaidi State and the Foundations of Peace in Oman: From Historical Legacy to Current and Future Renaissance," which is part of the National University of Science and Technology`s celebrations of National University Day, in collaboration with the Omani Historical Society. Elite of academics and researchers from various academic institutions participated in.
This seminar aims to highlight the political and intellectual legacy of the Al-Busaidi State to promote peace in Oman. As well as, reviewing key historical events that contributed to achieving this unique regional and international trajectory.

His Excellency the Governor of Muscat emphasised that Al-Busaid State, which strengthened principles of peace and coexistence and the foundations of stability, contributed to creating a modern Omani identity strongly linked to history. Thus contributing to a stable modern state impact internationally. His Excellency pointed out that this historical period is beneficial knowledge to future generations, providing lessons and experiences that promote awareness of Oman`s history and enhance its civilisational contribution and status in the region. He confirmed linking past and present and inspiring the keystones of peace and progress of the renewed Omani State.

During the seminar, numerous scientific papers were introduced that discussed the historical sources of Al Busaidi ruling institutions in the 18th and 19th centuries. As well as, reviewing the progress of the modern state during the renewed renaissance led by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said – may Allah protect and preserve him – accompanied by strengthening the principles of wise leadership and boosting Oman`s regional and international presence. The sessions discussed an in-depth study of the basics of coexistence and social practices in Omani society, women`s role historically in public affairs, and the political and cultural dimensions of Al Busaid State during its various stages of development.
