Health Committee in Seeb discusses Strict Control on Unlicensed Medicines

 His Excellency Ahmed bin Ali bin Hamdan Al Shehhi, Wali of Seeb and Chairman of the Health Committee, chaired the Health Committee meeting. During this meeting, numerous topics on the agenda were reviewed to boost preventive and supervisory efforts in the health sector. 


     During the meeting, strengthening awareness and health guidance among various society`s groups, particularly regarding key immunisations for disease prevention was discussed. As well as, increasing awareness programmes and events in schools, mosques and public councils. Thus, it contributed to promoting prevention and public health nationally. 


      The committee reviewed the response of the Directorate General of Health Services in Muscat Governorate regarding numerous issues raised at the previous meeting, as part of cooperation between the Health Committee and the Ministry of Health, to boost national efforts to reduce diseases caused by unhealthy practices. 


       HE the Wali urged the relevant entities in Muscat Municipality and the Consumer Protection Authority to monitor markets and commercial stores and prevent distributing or using unlicensed medicines. He confirmed coordination and integration between the relevant entities to ensure the community`s health and safety. 


     The Director of the Health Services Department in Seeb introduced an initiative that was implemented in collaboration with several commercial centres, within the "Healthy Mall" competition among the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The arrangements of the closing ceremony of the initiative and its most remarkable outcomes were discussed.
