As part of community efforts to raise awareness on the dangers of narcotics, the Wali of Bawshar Office and the Nidaa Charity Team, conducted an educational programme on combating narcotics and psychotropic substances in the Lecture Hall of the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.
During the programme, a scientific lecture entitled ‘Breaking Chains: Prevention, Treatment and Recovery for All’ was delivered by specialists from the Royal Oman Police. They discussed the key health, security and social risks of narcotics and psychotropic substances, and preventive methods.
This programme included educational visual presentations highlighting the negative effects on individuals and society. As well as, a mobile advisory exhibition, ‘The Consciousness Bus’, which placed in the Mosque’s outdoor parking lots, while visitors interacted with the educational materials and contents. This exhibition provides informative brochures and pictures illustrating the harmful impacts and diseases of narcotics and psychotropic substances. The exhibition also explains the legal and social informative issues associated with drugs. A specialised awareness team accompanies the exhibition to answer inquiries and advise and guide on drug prevention.
This programme raises community awareness of the dangers of drugs, support national initiatives to protect society from their risks, and confirm that official and private entities promote prevention and addressing this issue.
