The Subcommittee for Emergency Management and Governance (Climate Hazards) in Muscat Governorate held a coordination meeting to discuss preparations to implement the national campaign to raise awareness of the risks of climate hazards and sea waves (tsunamis) in its fourth station in Muscat Governorate.
This campaign reflects the efforts of the National Committee for Emergency Management, representing the National Emergency Management Centre, in partnership with Muscat Governorate and numerous governmental and community entities. It aimed to raise national consciousness regarding weather risks, climate conditions, and prevention and early preparedness.
During the meeting, implementing the campaign and the experiences of governorates to apply it was reviewed. Unifying institutional and community efforts to raise public consciousness regarding the dangers of weather and climate conditions, and promoting preparedness and proper response in emergencies were confirmed. Thus, it contributes to saving lives and properties and enhancing public safety.
The campaign, which will be initiated in Muscat Governorate wilayats targets decision-makers and local and educational communities. It includes awareness seminars, dialogue sessions, and practical field practices. As well as, an accompanying exhibition and various informative events, to achieve guidance messages efficiently and innovatively.
Muscat Governorate expressed support for these national efforts and boosting institutional readiness and rapid response to emergencies. Thus securing community safety and the essential services’ continuance. This fulfils national directives to achieve a more efficient and flexible national system for managing emergencies and climate risks.
