Muscat Governorate, representing Muscat Municipality, attends COMEX Global Technology Show 2025 as a noticeable participant. It highlights modern technologies` role in boosting quality of life and supporting digital transformation efforts in Oman. It also aligns with national directives to create smart cities and promote sustainable urban practices that rely on technology to provide development and services.

An Interactive Platform to display Digital Initiatives
The Governorate and Municipality Corner is an interactive and comprehensive platform that provides a detailed view of the progress of municipal services in the governorate. It introduces visitors and interests to various digital initiatives and projects that reflect developing municipal systems and illustrate that technology contributes to improving institutional performance and offering more accessible and efficient services to the community. It also highlights initiatives led by digital transformation ambassadors in Muscat Governorate.
The Unified Municipal System is a smart platform that connects various municipal services into a single system. Thus simplifying beneficiaries` access to comprehensive and linked services through a unified digital interface.

Technological Innovations to boost Quality of Life
The inauguration of the new Muscat Municipality’s website reflects developing digital communication with the public and provides an interactive experience. As well as, the municipality will introduce several innovative smart projects. They include the smart system to issue violations, the monitoring illegal landfill waste, the smart Aedes mosquito traps, and the fleet management system that boosts the operational resources` efficiency.
New innovative services such as automatic cancellation of violations if the parking is booked within a short time period after issuance. Besides, providing practical training service to applicants, digitising the request service for traffic accident costs relating to lighting, traffic lights, road components and landscaping. Simplifying and digitising the two services of requesting road lighting in residential neighbourhoods and requesting events at the municipality`s sites, confirming its approach to simplifying procedures and developing services.

Through this engagement, the Municipality will promote the Muscat Smart Cities and Autonomous Control Centre. As well as, introduce urban digital systems such as the GeoSpatial Portal and the ‘Etamid’ platform, which represent an advanced integration of data and services.
This reflects Muscat Municipality`s commitment to strengthening its institutional partnership with various government entities and the private sector. Its systems have recently been linked and complemented with the National Records Centre, the Supreme Judiciary Council and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth and Water Resources.

Community-based initiatives
These efforts align with community-based initiatives, particularly the national addressing system that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning implements, in partnership with municipalities. This project enables the public to select internal roads names within wilayats. Thus reflecting the participative role in managing municipal affairs.

Specialised dialogue and workshops
The Governorate and Municipality corner at the Show functions as a dialogue, consultation and experience-sharing platform, facilitating visitors to meet directly and discuss future transformations in smart cities and digitisation.
The engagement includes a range of practical workshops that transfer knowledge and boost public awareness of digital solutions to improve municipal services. Thus, it illustrates the Governorate`s commitment to digital transformation and society involvement in progress.
The workshops consist of several specialised topics, most notably reviewing Muscat Governorate`s digital services and Unified Municipal System, and a workshop entitled ‘From Data to Decisions` to explain how smart maps support decision-makers. Additionally, surveying spatial data, digital transformation, key applications and digital government portals, and a Marriage Fund workshop in Muscat Governorate. Alongside, development stages of the Call Centre to a digital call centre, introducing an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) and WhatsApp service.
These workshops boost visitors` interaction and create a practical platform to discuss digital solutions and technical innovations, to enhance services development and operational efficiency.
