
The Fisheries Development Department in Quriyat met, chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Talal bin Saif Al Hosni, Wali of Quriyat, to discuss the latest developments regarding the Fishery Landing Project in Daghmar village. Specialists attended this meeting from Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth and Water Resources, several sheikhs, dignitaries, and fishermen.
A visual presentation was delivered on the project`s components and objectives, and its role in supporting fishing activities and facilitating services provided to fishermen. Thus, thus boosting the fisheries sector`s contribution to local progress and creating new investment opportunities that support sustainable development in Muscat Governorate.

This project provides safe and organised landing facilities for fishermen in Daghmar, where they currently rely on primitive and unqualified sites, which negatively impacts the quality of fish traps and threatens their livelihoods. This has resulted in multiple landing sites along the coast and losing important economic opportunities for the community.
This project includes constructing main wave breaker and secondary wave breaker, floating piers boat ramps. It will also include service area for fishermen`s facilities, investment area to attract investors. As well as, a comprehensive infrastructure consisting of roads, lighting, electricity and water, along with facilities for boats maintenance and support.
The fishery-landing project will contribute to creating an attractive environment for fishermen and incentivising economic activities related to the maritime sector. Besides, boosting fisheries’ contribution to gross domestic product and achieving its sustainability.
