An Eventful and Exciting Weekend at Sports Spark

The Sports Spark 2025 event marked an enthusiastic and interactive weekend, with great participation from various community groups. As part of the summer programme organised by Muscat Governorate at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, which runs until 16 August.
The event attracts visitors of all ages via various sporting, entertainment and educational activities. Plus, the highly popular children`s summer camp programme.
Muscat Night Race. An Energetic Sporting Experience
On Friday evening, 1 August, the Muscat Night Race took place in collaboration with the Muscat Marathon, with Exhibition Park at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre as the starting and finishing point for all runners.
This race marks one of the most remarkable events of the Sports Spark, attracting a great response from all age groups. With over 1,000 participants, the Fun Track for 7-year-olds kicked off at 7:30 pm, followed by the 5km race for the 12+ year olds at 8:00 pm, with families and the public enjoying the fun and excitement. The race concluded with a winners` honouring ceremony at the Sports Spark halls. While the competitors collected their race kits on the previous day, according to a flexible and simple organisational procedures.
Engineer Said Al Shanfari, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, stated, "We are proud of the successful Muscat Night Race, which forms part of the Sports Spark events, and confirms encouraging sporting activities during summer, especially as it has a positive impact on motivating the community to be active. We promote a sports culture among the society through supporting and hosting sporting occasions in different seasons throughout the year, especially in Muscat Governorate.”
The Golf Event, a Unique Experience and an Elite Sport Introduction
On 2 August, Sports Spark staged a unique golf event, providing an interactive, open space for audiences to experience golf. This event offered tools and equipment. Additionally, specialist supervised coaching, so all participants can introduce themselves to golf in a pleasant and interactive environment.
Empowerment and Interaction at Women`s Day
The July 30th Women`s Day was a comprehensive sports and social experience combining entertainment, fitness and health awareness through sports sessions, educational workshops on nutrition and self-care, supervised by professional trainers.
The women`s day attracted great interaction, in a safe and motivating environment that enhances women`s empowerment to achieve an active and balanced lifestyle.
Muscat Governorate`s innovative Vision to support Community Sports
These initiatives reflect Muscat Governorate`s commitment to offering sports and social activities that improve the quality of life and support physical and mental health within an open and collaborative culture.
