The event has attracted large numbers of participants from different age groups, offering various sports programmes that runs until August 16, 2025. It stands out as one of the main summer highlights in Muscat, offering an integrated experience of sports, education, and entertainment.

The activities include sports tournaments, interactive workshops, E-gaming, a summer camp for children, and family events aimed at promoting a culture of sports in the community.

Team Sports Tournaments Enhance Competition

Last weekend marked several team sports tournaments that fostered a spirit of competition and interaction among participants from all age groups, providing them with an enthusiastic sporting atmosphere to display their talents.

In the Pickleball tournament, six teams participated, each comprising 12 players, totaling 72 participants. The Cricket tournament marked the participation of 8 teams, with 11 players per team, totaling 88 players.

Football was one of the main group competitions, with 16 teams, each consisting of 8 players, totaling 128 participants. As well as, a Badminton tournament was held with 3 teams, each containing 20 players, totaling 60 participants.

These tournaments reflect the community-driven goals of the Sports Spark initiative, aiming to build a sense of belonging, promote sportsmanship, and strengthen social connections. They also help reinforce sports as a lifestyle and a means for community bonding.

July 30 – A Special Women’s Day

As part of Muscat Governorate’s efforts to include all segments of society in meaningful summer activities, a dedicated Women’s Day will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, offering a fully women-only recreational and sporting environment.

This special day is designed to empower women and enhance their community involvement in a private and safe setting. The event will include a wide range of activities such as yoga, walking, basketball, and fitness sessions. As well as, educational workshops on public health, nutrition, and self-care, all led by female trainers and therapists.

There will also be relaxation corners, health check stations, and areas for social activities and personal skill development. This initiative aims to encourage women to adopt a healthy lifestyle by providing a comprehensive sports experience that combines physical activity, self-care, and community interaction.

Muscat Night Run – A Community Sports Event on August 1

Among the standout events of Sports Spark is the Muscat Night Run, scheduled for Friday, August 1, 2025, in collaboration with Muscat Marathon. This unique community event takes place under the city lights, providing participants with a one-of-a-kind sporting and entertaining nighttime experience.

Interactive Sports Activities at the Children`s Summer Camp

The Children’s Summer Camp is one of the key highlights of Sports Spark, targeting children aged 6 to 12 years. The camp operates daily from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, offering a mix of sports, education, and fun in a well-organized and safe environment, supported by an on-site clinic and full facilities.

In its first week, the camp welcomed over 200 children, offering more than 20 activities including football, basketball, badminton, pickleball, fitness exercises, E-gaming, arts, and life skills. Children are grouped by age, with scheduled rest periods and supervision from certified coaches and specialists.

Remarkably, members of the Omani Down Syndrome Association also participated in the camp, showcasing their abilities and supporting social inclusion.
