Sports Spark 2025, a Comprehensive Summer Experience Combining Sports, Education and Enjoyment in Muscat

Sports Spark 2025 has continuously attracted various audiences from different age groups since its inauguration on July 17 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, running until August 16, 2025, in a vibrant and interactive community environment. This event is one of the most remarkable sporting and entertainment events in Muscat Governorate this summer, summer, offering an integrative experience connecting sports, education and enjoyment.
The programme features numerous activities over consecutive weeks. They range from sporting tournaments, children`s summer programmes, interactive workshops, electronic games, daily sporting competitions and purposeful community events.

Summer Camp for Children... A Safe and Varied Environment
The Summer Camp associated with Sports Spark is one of the highlights of Muscat Governorate for kids aged from 6 to 14 years old, which runs daily from 8am to 2pm. It provides a safe and well-organised environment, offering a first aid clinic, and certified supervisors and coaches supervise children all-day to guarantee safety and organisation, with specialised coaches for each group.
The camp includes more than 20 sporting and recreational games and activities. For example, football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, pickle ball, running track, physical fitness exercises, and electronic and board games. It aims to develop children`s skills, social and personal skills, and motivate innovation in a motivating and pleasant atmosphere.
Amer Al Aysari, the operating manager of Sports Spark event noted that in its first week, the camp attracted more than 200 children, which reflects the success and positive interaction of the family and the society. Children can participate for one week, two weeks, or the entire month long period to match their parents` wishes and schedules.
He continued: "Children are divided according to age and category, so female groups are separate from male groups, resulting in greater comfort and privacy for the participants". He explained, `Each child practices three various sports daily, playing each sport for an hour, with an appropriate break between each activity to enhance their comfort and focus.
Oman Down Syndrome Association`s Involvement in Sports Spark 2025
Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jabri, the Board of Directors Head of the Oman Down Syndrome Association, appreciated the Muscat Governorate for giving the association the opportunity to engage in the Sports Spark 2025. He praised the organisers` efforts to create an inclusive and supportive sporting environment to welcome all society groups.
Al Jabri confirmed these initiatives promote self-confidence in people with Down syndrome and the principles of equality and community empowerment. He noted that the association`s involvement in this event represents a unique opportunity for societal integration and honours the talents and sporting abilities of the participants in an open and supportive environment.
The association has active sports teams in several fields, including karate, basketball, football, swimming, sailing, and horse riding. He stressed that the contribution of these young people to Sports Spark shows their ability to achieve excellence and competition once the appropriate environment and sufficient support are provided.
He indicated that the parents` interaction was positive and motivational, as more than 20 young males and females with Down syndrome joined this event within a secure environment that meets their requirements and supports their abilities. Thus reflecting the community`s awareness of proper and comprehensive inclusion.
Al Jabri encouraged parents inside and outside the association to motivate their children to engage in such events, particularly as it enhances their skills and promotes their presence in public spaces, according to their abilities and interests.
Continuous Sporting Tournaments, Great Interaction of Participant:
The cricket tournament, which kicked off on 18 July with participating 24 teams over five weekends, runs every Friday. The five-a-side football tournament, which kicked off on the same day involving 20 teams, provides a great competition that promotes sportsmanship and an ideal space for young talents.
New Competitions Inauguration: Hockey and E-Gaming
Sports Spark 2025 introduces new competitions to its weekly programme. On Thursday, 24 July, Hockey Competition, an exciting team sport requiring great balance, quick decision-making and coordination skills, makes it a favourite for young people and those interested in small-sided sports, will kick off. This championship is an opportunity to introduce local talents and a competitive stage for hockey fans in a professional and peaceful environment.
E Gaming will also take place on Friday and Saturday 25th and 26th July, attracting numerous youth and adults who are fond of digital competitions that combine entertainment, skill, and strategic thinking. E Gaming creates interactive and enthusiastic experiences via its advanced technical equipment and exciting competitions that inspire challenge and cooperation among participants.
