Within the framework of its efforts to raise institutional awareness on cybersecurity and meet the accelerating challenges in the digital space. Muscat Governorate, in collaboration with the Cyber Defense Centre, conducted a workshop entitled "Cyberspace Risks and Smartphones Threats" on Tuesday, targeting the Governorate`s employees.
This workshop aimed to raise awareness of cyberspace risks and challenges associated with digital security, and promote their abilities in the fields of information security and data protection. Thus, it contributes to developing a secure digital environment that supports achieving Oman`s Vision 2040.
The workshop introduced the Cyber Defense Centre, its history and establishment, reviewing Royal Decree No. (64/2020). As well as, approving the National Cyber Defense Strategy and inaugurating the digital identity and the Centre`s website, besides reviewing the Centre`s functions and the commitments of the concerned entities.
During the workshop, an introduction to cyber risks was delivered, reviewing the key global threats in 2025 and the most significant risks facing Oman. The cyberspace concept, electronic tracking, the entities benefiting from data collection techniques, risks and challenges associated with it were explained.
Best practices to minimise cyber risks, real-life examples and their impact on individuals and institutions were discussed. Additionally, highlighting precautionary procedures and effective methods to protect devices from increasing threats.
This initiative was part of Muscat Governorate`s continuous efforts to develop efficiencies and skills of its employees in the digital field and to interact with national directives to protect the information infrastructure, and prepare for the increasing technological challenges in the digital age.
