Muscat Governorate participated in the Institutional Culture Initiative conducted by the Ministry of Labour within the National System for Institutional Innovation and Change Management, to enhance the institutional culture of government institutions and develop government work.
This initiative pursues to develop the organisational culture of the participating entities (the values and principles that the organisation`s employees hold during their work and communication with their colleagues and their services beneficiaries), through analysing the current situation in the work places, writing work plans and then starting to correct it.
This initiative began with OQ, another contributor in it, interviewing decision makers in contributing institutions to evaluate the current situation of the unit`s institutional culture, and then each institution implemented a media campaign to motivate employees to fill out answer the questionnaire. Following this, the company will conduct workshops with the founders` representatives to introduce them to skills to analyse the data in the survey, and each organisation will develop and implement work plans to improve.
Several government institutions were involved in this initiative. For instance, General Secretariat of the Tender Board, Supreme Judiciary Council, Directorate General of Labour Care, Muscat Municipality, Royal Court Affairs, Consultative Assembly(Shura Council),National Records and Archives Authority, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, and others.
