Muscat Governorate conducts a Training Workshop for Special Records Management System

Muscat Governorate, in cooperation with the National Records and Archives Authority, conducted a workshop on the project to modernise the Special Records Management System in Muscat Governorate today(Wednesday). Several Governorate’s employees involved in the records’ management, to provide experience and the required work to update the classification system and retention schedules of special records, attended it.
The Head of the Technical Support Section at the National Records and Archives Authority, who introduced ways to progress the documents field, delivered the workshop. The presentation included the work plan to create and update records management systems following studying the functional specialisations and tasks of the targeted entities and departments.
It discussed the challenges facing the documentation sector, the national plan to sort the nation`s public documents, to save records from damage and loss, preserve significant documents of national memory, and dispose of those marked for destruction per retention schedules. It focused on the classification system`s work and file management based on topics, using retention period schedules.
This project aimed to enhance work efficiency and create a modern system to manage special records in Muscat Governorate.
