Muscat Governor sponsors the launch of Muscat Maritime March

His Excellency Sayyid Saud bin Hilal AlBusaidi, Governor of Muscat, sponsored the inauguration ceremony of the yacht, boat and jet ski maritime march organised by Muscat Governorate at the Jumeirah Muscat Bay Resort today (Friday). A number of Their Excellencies, Walis and a number of officials, attended the ceremony. This event marked the fifth anniversary of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq`s accession to the power.

The ceremony was initiated with an opening speech that expressed its importance to enhance the passions of patriotic pride and show the cohesion between the people and the leadership. The inauguration ceremony included a visual presentation on the march`s route and accompanying events.
Ibrahim bin Saeed Al Hasani, Manager of Communication and Media Department at Muscat Governorate, noted that Muscat Governorate is honoured to organise this event, which coincided with the Sultanate of Oman`s celebration of the fifth anniversary of the accession of power of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, may Allah protect him. To benefit from Muscat`s tourist attractions and natural landscapes, such as calm coasts, mountains and progressive urban development, to create stunning pictures that reflect the geographical location of this ancient city from which messages of amicability, tolerance and peace were delivered to the world. Today, this maritime march honours some of the maritime roles and glories that have been achieved through various historical periods. It symbolizes a vision that sails with traditional boats and modern yachts to unify originality and modernity to continue the renewed renaissance and achieve the national purposes, plans and programmes. According to Ibrahim Al Hasani, the maritime march was successful, with about 400 people and 69 boats, yachts and jet skis participated in it. Patriotic activities and songs, raising flags and symbols, and forming the Omani flag in the sea using balloons, accompanied the 40-kilometre march along the coasts of Muscat Governorate from Muscat, through Mutrah and Bawshar to the final location in Seeb. It included wakeboarding and fly boarding, and visual presentations on the history of Muscat Governorate.

This event expressed pride in the achievements during the past five years, as the Sultanate of Oman has progressed in various developmental fields. It promoted local tourism through an experience that combines both entertainment and a maritime heritage.
