Muscat Governorate will conclude tomorrow(Thursday) the ‘Innovative Proficiency Development’ training programme, which aimed to develop the creative abilities and promote institutional innovation among a number of the governorate’s employees. It was given by Dr Mohammed bin Fayel Al Arimi, a specialist trainer in the field of innovative and creative proficiency development, the five-day event was held at the City Seasons Hotel Muscat.
The programme aimed to promote the participants` creative thinking skills and enable them to create creative andnon-traditional ideas and transform them into innovative projects able to face future challenges and benefit from developmental opportunities. The programme also pursued to improve institutional efficiency and the government services’ quality by moving participants from traditional thinking to creative and innovative thinking.
It included several topics, most notably leadership and institutional innovation, principles, characteristics and methods of innovative thinking, innovative ideas’ creation. Additionally, transforming them into initiatives to present and evaluate them.

The programme relied on an interactive training methodology that combines practical lectures with individual and group practical activities. It focused on enabling participants to understand the principles and features of innovative thinking and apply them practically. Thus, enhancing their ability to solve organisational issues and use developmental opportunities effectively.
Several participants expressed that they benefited from the programme. Nasser bin Khalifa Al Dahmani, a computer network engineer, said that the programme was a beneficial experience that suits hisjob requirements. It provided him with innovative leadership skills that motivate the team and open new prospects for innovation and progress, creating a positive competitive environment that enhances productivity and thinking. He added that the programme helped him deepen his understanding of issues by asking exploratory questions, and promoted a culture of innovation, ambition and passion.
Saeed bin Hamdan Al Shukri, Head of the Salaries and Leave Department, said the programme was well organised and provided a motivating learning environment. He explained that the interactive activities and practical cases helped him gain analytical and creative thinking skills, learn new innovation techniques, look for unconventional solutions and think from different viewpoints. Al Shukri also suggested forming a specialised innovation committee to receive employees` ideas, analyse and develop them to serve the institutional purposes.
Ibrahim bin Ahmed Al Harami, Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Wali of Bawshar Office, explained that the programme enhanced his skills in generating innovative ideas and applying them practically in the work environment. The programme is highly appropriate to the employee`s professional requirements, as it enriches leadership and innovation skills, and supports the governorate`s vision to achieve institutional excellence and sustainable development.
The programme is expected to contribute to enhance the culture of institutional innovation among Muscat Governorate employees, offer them with the skills to generate and utilize ideas to serve the governorate, and convert their ideas into applicable initiatives that suit the directives and aspirations of Muscat Governorate.
