Reflecting the importance of documenting Omani history, His Excellency Sayyid Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat, sponsored the launch of the book ‘My Journey in the Shadow of the Sultans of Wisdom’ by author Mohammed Ghulam Mohiuddin bin Abdulaziztoday (Monday), during a ceremony organised by the National Museum of Oman in the presence of a group of people interested in cultural affairs. This documentary was proposed by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq –may Allah protect him-, who reviewed the first draft of the book at the end of 2019.
The ceremony reviewed the main contents of the book, which aims to document a detailed age of Oman`s history from the1950s to the 1970s. It details the lives of remarkable personalities and characteristics of life in ancient Muscat, with in-depth analysis of important historical events during the reigns of Sultan Said bin Taimur and Sultan Qaboos bin Said –may Allah rest their souls - and the features of their rule and the contrasting economic and social challenges.
The book, supported by rare archival photographs, is a great addition to the Omani library. It provides a unique vision of the Sultanate`s development through various eras and documents the author`s contributions to enrich the Omani cultural and intellectual field and promote the Oman`s international relations.
