The Sea Traditions Committee held its second meeting in 2024. HE Sheikh Talal bin Saif bin Mohammed Al Hosani, Quriyat wali and the committee chair, chaired it. Committee members who discussed various important topics related to maritime activities attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed the fixed platform at the fishing port, which is one of the vital projects that enhance the fishermen abilities and simplify their processes. The project of landing platforms in Bimmah and Fins villages. It aims to improve the infrastructure for fishing and provide better facilities, was also discussed.
It also discussed the legalisation of fishing boats’ sites in the villages of Fins, Bimmah, Dibaband Daghmar. It reflects the committee`s commitment to meet the maritime community needs and ensure the sector sustainability.
It is worth noting that Sea Traditions in Muscat Governorate is an essential in the cultural and economic heritage. The maritime sector contributes to create jobs and food security in the community. Local committees work to promote cooperation between the relevant entities to develop this sector and achieve sustainable development.
