The Sea Traditions Committee in Bawshar held on Wednesday its third meeting in 2024, chaired by His Excellency Ahmed bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Bawshar wali and of the Committee’s chair. The meeting reviewed the previous meeting’s recommendations and followed up on what has been implemented, and several topics on the committee`s agenda.
It also discussed the progress of the request to establish a marine fishing port, the proposal for advanced boats in cooperation with the Fisheries Development Oman, in addition to some fishermen violations of the regulations and laws that regulate fishing, and the appropriate solutions to these violations.
The meeting concluded by stressing the necessity to instruct fishermen on the laws and regulations regulating fishing and the customs followed, in order to preserve the sustainability of marine resources.
