Muscat Governorate has launched the` Muscat Inspires Us` short film initiative to enable young amateur and professional Omani filmmakers to create creative content as short films that promote the governorate achievements. The competition targets film makers, directors, producers, students, amateurs, local film companies, photographers, artists, educational institutions and community members to show their films, ideas and creativity.
The `Muscat Inspires Us` competition enhances the governorate`s visual content, and the participation areas are tourism, community partnership, governorate development, history and culture, sustainable learning, and architectural identity.
The initiative achieves several aims. The most notable are promoting Muscat Governorate by visual content that highlights its development and achievements in various sectors, present and market innovators films, enhance the visual content, and establish sustainable promotional film production that supports variety and innovation. The initiative develops the creative industries in the filming and directing, and promote partnerships with the community to invest in innovative ideas and motivate future initiatives.
The films will be judged by a jury of film industry specialists, consisting of two members from the Oman Film Society, one member from the Ministry of Information, and two members from Muscat Governorate.
Muscat Governorate has awarded prizes to the winning positions in the competition, with the first-place winner receiving RO2500, second place RO 1500, third place RO 1000, fourth place RO 700, fifth place RO 500, sixth place RO 300, and seventh place RO 200.
The competition stipulates that the works must be original and have not been previously displayed or published, must be in accordance with public values and customs, and the film must not be more than 5minutes. Films must be presented in Arabic with English subtitles, and each participant or team is allowed to present only one film. Muscat Governorate will own the winning films.

Muscat Governorate hopes this initiative will be an interactive platform that encourages technical innovation, and highlights achievements, capabilities, societal values and cultural heritage. Therefore, it contributes to offer an inspiring visual image of the governorate via the innovative people lens.
