MuscatGovernorate, in cooperation with the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center,today launched the “Sports Spark” event, which will continue until August 24 atthe Oman Convention and Exhibition Center. Via offering a variety of events, sportingactivities and entertainment competitions.
This came during the media meeting thatpreceded the tournament’s start in the presence of His Excellency Ahmed binMohammed Al Humaidi, Muscat Municipality head. Engineer Said bin Salim AlShanfari, CEO of the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The event aims to enhance the benefit ofsummer sports for all individuals and groups of society. Through the diversityand richness of activities that are particular to children, youth and the wholefamily. It also offers a new experience that is according to MuscatGovernorate’s directions in enhancing the entertainment aspects in the sports’field through effective partnership with the private sector, and benefit fromtheir experience in event management and the entertainment industry.
The event also aims to promote health and physicalfitness. It constitutes a forum for families and athletes in this field and aplatform for meeting arising from innovations in the sporting fields. This is byoffering various sports activities and initiatives that are hoped to meet thepublic aspirations.
His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Humaidi,Muscat Municipality’s head, stated: “The “Sports Spark” event comes under thesupervision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and includes in itscomponents several different sports that receive great demand from variousyouth groups. These sports include football, basketball, volleyball, challengesports, abilities and mental skills’ development in one site, which is equippedwith all requirements. It aims to create an enjoyable sports and entertainmentatmosphere and offer all means of safety, all of which enhances the event’ssuccess”.
On the other hand, Engineer Said AlShanfari, CEO of the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, added: “We pursueto transform the center into a lively place throughout the year via such eventsthat offer various sporting activities. It also promotes a healthy andenergetic lifestyle throughout the summer”.
