As part of its continuous effort to increase the infrastructure’s efficiency and traffic safety’s improvement. Muscat Municipality continues to work on implementation of the Halban Street duality project (first stage), which is considered one of the most important projects that implemented by the municipality at the present time. The project achievement rate reached approximately 99%. The full project is expected to be completed within the next few months.
The Halban Street duality project (first stage) aims to solve the problem of traffic congestion’s increase in the region, road traffic and traffic safety’s improvement on Halban Street, and establishment of a lands’ intersection with traffic light signals to offer an easy and efficient process for road traffic to the served regions by the road. As well as, service roads will offer direct entrances to residential areas and the rainwater drainage system’s improvement in the project area.
The project includes the construction of a dual street with a length of1450 metres, starting from the intersection crossroad of the Muscat Expressway (IC16) and extending to the entrance to Al Maabilah 8.
Additionally, it includes the construction of an intersection by traffic signs with a high traffic capacity for the entrance to Al Maabilah 8, construction of number of (20) box watercourses of size (3*2) on the current valley in the region. Also, side drainage waterways to drain rainwater. Additionally, the project also includes traffic safety requirements according to a modern design’ guide that includes protection, lighting, iron barriers and traffic and guidance regulations’ boards.
