Within the framework of sports activity’s encouragement and exploring ancient customs and traditions’ exploration, His Excellency Al-Mundhir bin Ahmed Al-Marhoon, Muttrah wali, received the Omani traveller Bakhit bin Salem Al-Omari. He is who leave on a journey from Dhofar Governorate to Makkah and Medinah on foot, which took approximately 96 days.
Al-Omari is the first Omani to make this journey on foot. Expressing his purpose to follow as an analogy of our ancestors who traveled long distances to perform Umrah rituals. He mentioned that this trip is a way to encourage people to practice sports and learn about their cultural and religious heritage. In conclusion, his Excellency Al Marhoon gave a souvenir gift to the traveller Bakhit Al-Omari that aims to appreciate to his efforts.
