Muscat Governor Sponsors the Opening Ceremony of the “Al-Ain Short Film Festival” in its First Edition

Today(Wednesday), His Excellency Sayyid Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi, the Governor ofMuscat, sponsored the opening ceremony of the “Al-Ain Short Film Festival” inits first edition at the Grand Millennium Hotel, which is organized by theMinistry of Information, represented by the General Directorate of ElectronicMedia, and in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al Harasi,the Minister of Information.
The organization of the “Al-Ain Short Film Festival” comes in an effort toadvance the Omani film and the artistic cultural movement of filmmaking in theSultanate of Oman, and to contribute to the development of creative content. Itis scheduled to last for five days, and an elite group of leading Omani andinternational artists and directors, as well as speakers specialized in thefield of cinematic art, will participate.
The first edition of the festival will compete with 55 qualified filmsout of 71 participating films, divided into three categories: 28 shortnarrative films, 22 documentaries, and 5 children’s films. Which will be shownat VOX Cinema in Mall of Oman, and 12 arbitrators from the Sultanate of Oman,the Kingdom of Bahrain, Tunisia and Germany will participate in thearbitration, divided into the three categories.
It is worth noting that the festival includes cultural sessions andtraining workshops that discuss screenwriting, directing, cinema productionissues, and the reality of the motion picture market in the region and theworld.
In addition to cinematic performances shown for the first time, many areas arediscussed, namely: good citizenship, tourism, youth and sports, the technicaland digital future, and artificial intelligence. Moreover, Social networkingsites and discussing the negatives and positives therein, Omani culture andidentity, science and knowledge, and social issues.
