The Sultanate of Oman chairs the 26th meeting of the Committee of Their Excellencies the Ministers Concerned with Municipal Affairs in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries

The Sultanate of Oman chaired the twenty-sixth26th meeting of Their Excellencies the Ministers Concerned with Municipal Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries today, headed by His Excellency Sayyid Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi, the Muscat governor. In the presence of Their Excellencies, those concerned with municipal affairs in the GCC countries, and His Excellency the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, via visual communication.


His Excellency Sayyid Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi, the Muscat governor, confirmed that this meeting comes within the integrated efforts among the GCC countries to adopt the municipal work strategy’s recommendations. Moreover, moving it towards wider horizons through shared work continuance to improve various areas of municipal work and obstacles facilitation and challenges facing to raise the level of municipal facilities in a way that serves the nations (peoples) of the GCC countries.

    The participating ministers appreciated the support and direction of Their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC countries - May God guard them- to advance the process of joint Gulf municipal work and develop it towards achieving the goals’ achievement of reinforcement cooperation and integration(combination) among the GCC countries.

    The electronic version of the Gulf Structure Code was launched as a guide. Then, Their Excellencies the Ministers discussed a number of common topics in various fields, primary of which is the decisions implementation issued by the Supreme Council regarding the strategy of joint Gulf municipal work and the urban environment, and the prospective directions of strategic urban planning for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Moreover, legislations (regulations)and municipal observation mechanisms development, stipulations and mechanism for contractors` classification. In addition to the Cooperation Council Award for Municipal Work, and exchanging experiences, proficiency and information.

    The meeting talked about discussion of conferences, workshops, and specialized training programs in the municipal work field. Furthermore, highlighting joint Gulf municipal work in regional and international forums, about which appropriate decisions were taken.
