Muscat Governorate Participates in Awareness Exhibition Marking the International Day against Drug Abuse

The Muscat Governorate engaged in the awareness exhibition organised by the Royal Oman Police on the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, held at Mall of Muscat, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation and integration among entities concerned with combating this menace and mitigating its impact on society.

        The Governorate’s participation comes through the “Together We Unite” campaign, to reduce narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. This reflects the importance of integrating national efforts to boost the community prevention system, raise awareness of drugs’ dangers, and highlight joint efforts in conducting educational and preventive programmes and initiatives targeting various society’s groups. As part of its involvement, the Muscat Governorate introduced the campaign’s objectives, activities, events and community initiatives, which contribute to raising public consciousness for community groups and reinforcing shared responsibility that prevents narcotic drugs and reduces its risks.

        The Muscat Governorate affirms that its role in this field stems from its social responsibility, through the local committees working within the Offices of the Walis, which oversee the monitoring and follow-up of related behavioural phenomena and coordinate efforts among the relevant authorities to limit their spread.

        Within its municipal responsibilities, the Muscat Governorate organises using buildings, monitor associated activities, and ensure compliance with regulations governing land and building purposes. Thereby supporting preventive efforts to curb unlawful practices and reinforce a peaceful and stable environment across various wilayats.
