The Maritime Affairs Committee in Quriyat Discusses Fish Landing Quay Works

The Maritime Affairs Committee in Quriyat held its second meeting of 2026, chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Talal bin Saif Al Hosani. The committee discussed numerous topics relevant to the fisheries sector, including the progress of works on the fish landing quays in the villages of Fins, Bimmah, Dhabab and Daghmar, and was briefed on the achievement rates of these projects.
During this meeting, organising works in the fish market in Quriyat was examined and expired licences for vehicles used to transport and sell fish and boats were discussed. Thereby contributing to organising activities associated with fisheries.
During the meeting, the committee reviewed the response from His Excellency the Engineer, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources for Fisheries, regarding issues raised by the Committee. A visual presentation was conducted on the ‘Tharawat’ platform and the implementing regulations for the Aquatic Living Resources Law, issued by Ministerial Decree No. 70/2026.
The procedures taken to register artisanal and coastal fishing vessels in Quriyat were highlighted, as part of reinforced efforts to regulate this sector and sustain marine resources.
